Personal Goals & Primary Greatness

My goal in 2012 is to cultivate, support and encourage Primary Greatness – a principle necessary for one to achieve lasting happiness, better health & financial fitness. I know that this goal will require the assistance and effort of those who share my vision, and who are ready to transform their own lives in the process.

I’ve spent the better part of the past several years doing my due diligence and carefully determining how each piece of this masterplan would fit into the next. If I was going to make a difference… if I was going to transform the lives of those I touch… I needed to be prepared to inspire them, encourage them and provide them with a proven plan of action to make their dreams and aspirations come true.

This wasn’t just about helping them to make more money than they’d ever dreamed possible; although that would be one of the benefits of following the program. And it wasn’t about helping them to become more healthy, vibrant and self-confident; while that certainly was one of the higher priorities among my objectives. It was about personal empowerment. And that meant that my number one focus would be the individuals with whom I would commit myself to working for the next 24 months.

That commitment also meant that this wasn’t something I would do on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings only. It would become my focus, eighteen hours a day, six days a week, for the next two years. And the reason for that was simply because I know that the people with whom I will be working already have busy, demanding and challenging lives, and so it’s important for me to be there when their schedule allows them to set aside one hour each day.

This wouldn’t be about telling them why whatever it is they’re presently doing isn’t “good enough” to provide the kind of results they deserve in life. It’s about cultivating Primary Greatness, and by doing so, helping them to turn everything they do into a remarkable contribution to the planet, and a tremendous personal success.

I also know that this pursuit of excellence won’t require me to chase anyone down, or convince them to become involved, because who and what I am will always attract the kind of people who share this vision and who deserve to succeed. Some will need to proceed slowly, and others may have to be very careful about not letting their present companies and projects know what they’re doing. In time, however, everything will fall into place for the most motivated and full-timers as well as those participating on a more part-time basis.

Do you believe there’s a Power that can cause people, experiences or things to be brought into our lives, or cause us to be brought to them?

I am convinced that there is, and I believe that we can connect deeply with this power in such a way as to be able to manifest everything we ought to have in our lives, including health, personal success, financial freedom, emotional healing and much more. Many years ago, I remember reading a particular quote from a brilliant man, called Wallace D. Wattles, a social visionary, reformer and New Thought philosopher, who wrote:

“If there is a particular man you need to know, he will be introduced to you; if there is a particular book you need to read it will be placed in your hands at the right time.”

I am certain that it’s no coincidence that you’ve chosen to read this short message, just as it’s no coincidence that we’ve connected in the social media and real worlds. I know that there is a reason for everything and that when there’s just “something there” that compells us to take that next step, we will be haunted by that inner tug at our hearts and minds until we do what’s meant to be.

And so to those who are paying attention… those who are courageous enough to take their destinies into their own hands and begin to shape a new and brilliant future for themselves and for their loved ones… I will simply say that I look forward to our next conversation.

And to all, I wish peace, love and prosperity.

Choosing a network marketing company

There’s a common misconception in the direct sales industry, which suggests that it’s best to get involved with a network marketing company in the beginning. The idea that the only real potential to make money in direct sales exists during the first six to twelve months of a start-up company’s history is actually completely mistaken.

This common misconception has been perpetuated by upstart companies themselves, and fails to recognise the historic fact that 98% of direct sales companies fail within their first six years in business.

Business analysts disagree that it’s likely a company would reach critical mass (often called “market saturation”) within the first ten to fifteen years. Most companies, in fact, don’t see market saturation for decades.

Additionally, the economy plays an important factor in the reaching of market saturation, as does timing. When the economy is uncertain, more people are open to alternative means of generating additional income for their households.

Those considering becoming involved with a direct sales company would do well to carefully evaluate the company, the infrastructure, the product and the compensation plan, as well as carefully examining the company’s financial stability.

Your ultimate success with a company depends on these factors and the ability to offer new consultants a simple, proven and duplicable system for growing their business.

Care about the results of the people you sponsor and be sure that your sponsor is skilled, knowledgeable and actively involved in helping their team achieve their goals, and you’ll find your business growing beyond your wildest dreams.

2012 and Your Financial Future

OK… So let’s do the math, shall we? Let’s say that you’ve decided it’s time to take control of your personal and financial future. And regardless of whether you’re involved in another venture right now or not, let’s discover how to determine if what you’re doing is a GOOD INVESTMENT IN YOUR FUTURE FINANCIALLY.

First off, do you like the products? If you said yes, and if the monthly purchase requirement makes sense to you, then you can determine that it makes sense to be involved with a company whose products you enjoy, if it saves you 20-25% or more off the retail price.

Secondly, do the products positively impact your life and the lives of others? Are these potentially life-changing products that people will talk about? Nothing will build your business faster than word of mouth and social media, so you must have products that are consumable, and which are affordable, but more than that, they must be positively impacting products on your health and wellbeing.

Third, despite the hype, the deceptive marketing practices and the emotional manipulation that gets employed by many so-called “opportunities” today, the simple fact exists that 98% of the people who start a home business will never recruit more than FOUR people into their business. So if your company requires you to personally recruit any more than that, even if YOU believe you can do it, the chances are that 98% of the people you enroll CANNOT. And if you can do it, figure out how long it took the average top producers in your company to get there… five years? ten years? twenty years? Do you really want to wait five to ten years to start making decent money?

Fourth, what does it take to make $700/month with the company you’re looking at? If the only way to do that requires you to sell $1400 in product or more… or if you have to amass eight to ten thousand dollars in group sales… or if you have to have personally recruited eight, ten, twelve, eighteen or more personally sponsored active consultants to get paid, then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong. That’s not a business that allows you to leverage your time, effort and money. It’s a job. Plain and simple. You’ll still have to work every day, for the next ten years, unless you want to see your income drop. And then, you’ll have no control over the motivation level of your people, so hoping and praying you can keep 8-18 people motivated enough to keep their 8-18 people motivated enough to generate $8-$12K a month… well… good luck with that!

And finally, if your company requires you to EVER personally generate more than $100 BV in a month, in order to qualify for even the HIGHEST level of the compensation plan, forget it. That’s only a signal that the company’s products aren’t strong enough to stand on their own.

So let me ask you a question…

A Tribute to a Friend and Mentor: Jim Rohn

I was eighteen years old, in my second year of monastic studies, when I met Jim Rohn. My good friend, Mark Hughes had started a company that would become the very first non-Eastern country to offer herbal supplements and herbal nutriceuticals. His company would be known as Herbalife International, whose headquarters, then in a small obscure office in an industrial park, now stands visible as a landmark from Los Angeles International Airport, and as a pioneer in the field of entrepreneurial networking.

Jim and Mark were close personal friends, having worked on other projects together; and Jim agreed to train the new group of entrepreneurs Mark assembled in those early days, to take his company to the top. For my part, I was convinced that this business model represented the best way for me to be able to support myself in my studies, and help those less fortunate, in my outreach programs. So I followed the ideas and philosophies Jim shared, along with the business strategies taught by another mentor, Lawrence Thompson, very closely.

The group would eventually become something of a “Who’s Who” in the industry, with such leaders as Larry Shine, Irene Bassam, Jim Fobair, Chris Lobato, and many others, who went on to achieve tremendous financial and personal success, as a result of the strategies, tactics and ideas that were taught in those early days.

“Discipline ins the bridge between our goals and accomplishments,” Jim Rohn would tell us, “We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is that discipline weighs ounces, while regret weighs tons.”

Today, Jim Rohn’s students include such superstars and Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Tom Hopkins, Eric Worre and Harlon Ritter. And here on the Internet, it’s hard not to spend a day on Facebook, Twitter or blog-surfing and not find some network marketer quoting some of the timeless wisdom so many of us learned from Jim over the past three decades.

Jim taught me that life doesn’t respond to “need”… that the Masters knew this, and that is why we don’t read, “If you need, you will reap.” Rather, life responds to the law of cause and effect, therefore, “As you sow, so shall you reap.” If you expect to get results, you better get your butt in gear, and start planting.

Jim reminded us that the “few who do are the envy of the many who only watch”… that without a sense of urgency, life loses its value and results diminish exponentially.

It was with tremendous sadness that I received the call last night, that my friend and mentor, the Great Jim Rohn, left this mortal coil yesterday, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He died peacefully, reassuring those around him that he had no fear about what came next. His courage and determination to not go without a good, healthy and wholehearted fight were a testimony to the wisdom he taught others fro decades.

Harold Dyke, long time close friend of Jim’s for over 55 years said it best, “As Jim is ending one life he is simultaneously being birthed into a new life. One that he has talked about over the years and anticipated with great joy in his last remaining days.”

Someone once said “when you are born you enter the world crying while everyone else is rejoicing and when you die hopefully you have lived such a life that everyone will be crying while you are rejoicing”. There can be no question that is the case for Jim Rohn, who will be fondly remembered, and whose contributions will remain something for which I am always grateful.

At the end of each seminar, workshop and training, Jim always said this: “I go with you in all the experience that we’ve had. But I promise you this as we leave here: I will not leave you behind. I’ll take you with me in my thoughts and in my heart.”

And I will take you with me as well, my mentor, my colleague and my friend.

Pretty Impressive! Strategies for Google Cash

On occasion, we have the good fortune of “bumping into” someone, whose story is inspiring and worth sharing. This morning, I was doing some research at the library, when I a started a friendly chat with an individual who was in town visiting.

But what was truly amazing was that he wasn’t your typical Internet-savvy kind of fellow. In fact, I’d say he wasn’t really all that tech-savvy at all.

So how was it that he was creating a monthly income in the tens of thousands of dollars? (I know, he showed me the income from Google ad-words, and places like that… by logging-in and letting me see his realtime results!)
